Saturday morning and I'm trying to type quietly and in the dark, as we have 3 teenage boys asleep on the lounge room floor. Lauren is watching TV and accidently making a few noises so they will wake up soon :) I noticed that she put a purple glitter streak in her hair, and donned a touch of lip gloss before 7am this morning. How fun to be an 8 year old girl again.
I took a day off from work yesterday so I could be there for Jordan's 14th Birthday. DH is at home with the kids these school holidays, and I've been the one driving off merrily to work every day. Anyway, Jordan was asking about going to the movies with friends etc but instead I surprised them with a visit to the local TimeZone games arcade. He invited a couple of friends along too and we spent a happy couple of hours playing games, winning tickets for prizes (which of course Lauren got the most goodies LOL) and included was a game of Laser Skirmish, Dodgem cars and Mini Golf. The laser game was so much fun - and Lauren looked so cute as her hair and teeth were glowing in the dark! Somehow she ended up being on a different "team" and had to go in by herself - but we were in seconds later and I hurriedly raced and found her in the dark in case she freaked out. Wish I had a camera with me for the day - I need to get a more compact one with a decent resolution that I can just carry around for moments like these! The laser game was a lot less painful than playing paintball - which I did when I was at Uni many years ago, and was covered in a multitude of bruises for weeks after!!
I also had to go and see the Breast surgeon yesterday as a follow up to some lumps and bumps that have been causing issues. I have to have checks every 6 months or so, which is good as we will catch anything else that appears early on, but over the past few years there has been something unusual found each time, and we go through the roller coaster of emotions as we wait for test results. I'm still tender after a core biopsy done in November last year, which is a bit of a concern. We've been watching one suspicious area but it has only grown slightly in the past 5 months thank goodness. Woohoo !!
Better go and start cleaning up the other end of the house while the sleeping beauties doze. Sleepovers: kids staying up way too late and giggling into the night, playing hide and seek in the dark, eating tons of pizza and soft drink, raiding the cupboards in the middle of the night, and sleeping late so the rest of the family have to tip toe around them in the morning! Makes me wish I was a kid again!
